All units in mechabellum are playable and good in different situations. When you glance this list and see the top tier units and low tier units, don't think that you should avoid certain units and only build certain units.

The units in the higher tiers are usually more flexible; there are more situations where they are the correct unit to build and they offer you a more flexible way to get into a powerful late game composition.
